Asterisk Summer School 2014
The second edition of Asterisk Summer School was held at Telliskivi Loomelinnak, in the colourful neighbourhood of Kalamaja in Tallinn, from July 28 to August 6. The summer school was once again joined by a team of remarkable international guest tutors: designer Maki Suzuki from design collective Åbäke (UK), typographer and designer Radim Peško (CZ), designer and illustrator Samuel Nyholm (SE/DE), artist and musician Giacomo Porfiri (IT/DE), as well as summer school organisers Laura Pappa (EE/NL) and Elisabeth Klement (EE/NL). This time the focus was on the notion of play in relation to different modes of working, and its relevance within a design practice. No computers were allowed on the premises. The workshops dealt with a number of topics, including extracting letterforms from the streets of Tallinn, performing a live TV show, tattooing and constructing an HQ of a worldwide delivery service.
